When illness calls for urgent attention, please call 201-327-1313, ext. 899 and request for a priest visit to administer the Sacrament.
“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the priests of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:14-16
The Sacrament of the ANOINTING OF THE SICK , once called “extreme unction”, is a means of continuing the healing ministry of Jesus and his disciples today. (Mk. 6:7-13)
The Church of the Presentation celebrates this sacrament, not simply for those approaching death, but also for those who are in need of spiritual and/or physical renewal and healing.
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is:
– To include people suffering from a serious illness, not merely physical, which makes ordinary practice of faith difficult.
– Like all sacramental celebrations, it is intended to be a community celebration.
– Anointing is not magic. Healing comes through the faith of the sick person and the prayers of the wider Christian community.
Communal Anointing of the Sick is scheduled every Spring and Fall.
For non-urgent requests, please contact our priests for an appointment:
