Our Parish Garden Compost Bins Are Open!

After a winter hiatus the garden compost area is now open. The garden uses compost to enrich the soil and create better produce for local soup kitchens and pantries. Participate in this environmentally friendly practice by placing your food scraps in the bins located at the garden entrance.

The following may be placed  in our compost bins:

all fresh fruits and vegetables
coffee grinds (paper filters are also OK)
egg shells and nutshells
grass clippings from un-pesticide-treated grass (no bags please)
paper towels
leaves of any kind (fresh green, Fall brown, and even leaves from gutters)
flowers (fresh, dried, or dead)saw dust and wood ash
chopped twigs and chopped branches only

Please NO fats, oil, dairy or meat scraps or bones; large branches, lumber, or invasive weeds and of course, no plastic, stickers or bags. Thanks for your participation!
