Equal in dignity to the reverence that is due the Holy Eucharist is the rightful proclamation of the Word of God in the Mass. 

Lectors read the appointed Scripture of the day and general intercessions. All lectors are required to attend a training session for Liturgical Ministers. A work book containing the Scripture for every Sunday of the year is given to all lectors so that they may prepare their proclamation, and thus giving the Word of God due honor and dignity.
